Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Mini: Should Samsung?

There’s a problem with Samsung’s line of tablets. They currently sell 10 different models – we have low-end ones like the Tab A7, A7 Lite and A8. And then there’s the entire Tab S – starting with the Tab S6 lite, all the Tab S7 models, and finally, the most current options the Tab S8, the S8+ and the S8 Ultra. But there is something missing there – a small, powerful and premium tablet – the Tab S8 Mini!.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Mini SIZE

You see – Samsung covers a good range of tablet sizes, from the 8.7″ Tab A7 Lite to the 14.6″ Tab S8 Ultra. But they should be a direct competitor to the super popular iPad Mini 6 – from Apple. and today we are going to design it – so if you have any ideas of your own or changes to this design, please let me know in the comment section. If you only looked at the size, the size of the A7 Lite is really excellent: – We’ll get a longer but narrower tablet than the iPad Mini 6 – and that’s something we’re used to with Samsung tablets that have an aspect ratio designed for watching movies and videos.

Now here are a few things I would change. First, I’d update the design and make it similar to the Tab S8, with smaller bezels, rounded corners, and square edges. That will give us a more premium look and potentially allow us to make the tablet a bit smaller while keeping the screen size. Next I would upgrade from 2 speakers to 4 – and it would use the same speakers that come in the Tab S8. That will give us better audio than the iPad Mini 6 – and it would deliver stereo sound regardless of whether you hold the tablet in portrait or landscape mode. And ultimately, that will mean you’ll get a better movie-watching and gaming experience.

Now, the next part – You might get a pullback at – so let me know what you think – but i still want a 3.5mm headphone jack. This is going to be an amazing gaming tablet – when you’re done with that – and having the option of wired headphones or headphones makes life so much easier.

Game PUBG – probably more than it should – and for the most part, I use wireless headphones – or a gaming headset with a USB-C dongle. But many times my friends and I run into problems, echoing in the game – or depending on the size of your tablet, the dongle may interfere with how I want to hold the tablet – so having a 3.5mm headphone jack, like on the iPad 9, would be great. It would also be another of the advantages that the Tab S8 Mini would have over the iPad Mini.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Mini SCREEN

Now, let’s go to the screen – and this is where I am not willing to skimp. The Tab A7 Lite has a good screen for a budget tablet – but that’s not what we’re doing here – we want a small but premium tablet. This is a tough choice for me – In fact, I think the Tab S8’s screen is very good – but of course it’s not the Super AMOLED screen we get on the Tab S8+ and Ultra. Personally, I would be fine with either – but if I couldWe were getting a Super AMOLED display – that would be surprising. We would get vibrant colors, deeper blacks, and HDR10+ support – and again, this would give it an advantage over the iPad Mini 6.

For biometric authentication – I would love to have the in-display fingerprint sensor that we have on the Tab S8+ and Ultra – but if it’s too expensive and we needed to replace it with the power button implementation we see on the Tab S8 – that would not be a deal breaker for me.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Mini BATTERY LIFE& PROCESSOR

Now, battery life will always be a challenge, especially with a smaller device. But if you saw my Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra Battery Drain Test – you know Samsung did a fantastic job this year – and in case you haven’t seen it, I’ll put a link to that video at the bottom of this one.

We’ll have a smaller screen to feed here, so if Samsung could just get this tablet to keep up with the rest of the lineup in terms of battery life – that would be surprising.

And part of this will come down to the processor. We can go in a few different directions here, but I don’t want this tablet to be underpowered, so that’s where I want the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip that we have in the other 3 Tab S8 tablets. It is more powerful and efficient than previous processors – then we would get a fast and responsive tablet – without any delay – and better battery life. It also means that it will be able to run any game we want to play, from PUBG to Genshin, Asphalt, and of course any other less demanding game.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Mini MULTITASK + DeX

This extra processing power should also allow us to run Dex on this smaller tablet. If you’re not familiar with Dex, it’s a feature that allows you to launch your tablet with a desktop-like user interface. You get a real desktop with icons, folders, a taskbar, you can open multiple windows, fit them to half the screen, and even have floating windows.

It’s something you get with the other current Tab S tablets, and even phones like the Z Fold 3 and S22 ultra. Of course, not everyone is going to use this feature, but being able to connect an external display and have a dual display setup could work as a simple – desktop or laptop replacement for some users.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Mini SECOND SCREEN
I also want to be able to run Second Screen – which is a feature offered by Samsung, which allows you to use your tablet as a wireless device – second screen with compatible desktop and laptop computers. I know it will be a smaller tablet, but I always want the option of an extra screen because it can improve productivity.

The next thing we should get is the same long-term support that Samsung offers with its new tablets – so i want 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Mini PORT AND Accessories

As for the ports – I already mentioned a 3.5mm headphone jack – and, of course, Samsung would use a USB-C port for charging and accessories. The only accessory missing from the Tab A7 Lite that I would like to add to this new tablet – it’s an S-Pen.

Not a smaller one like we have on the S22 Ultra, or even the midsize Fold edition I use with the Z Fold 3 –I want the full-size S Pen that comes with the Tab S8/+ and Ultra – and i want a magnetic stripe on the back where it can be stored and loaded. I also wish it was the BlueTooth-enabled S Pen to have access to all the wireless capabilities larger tablets have.

And just like with the other tablets, I would assume Samsung would include it in the cost of the tablet – so you don’t need to spend extra money to get all the features. This, again, would be somewhat different from the iPad Mini 6 – which is compatible with the $129 second-generation Apple Pencil.

CAMERA Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Mini

As for the camera system, I’m not going to be very demanding. If you can give me the same system we have on the current larger models – with a 13 MP wide angle and a 6 MP ultra wide angle, that’s great – but if this is an area where you need to save some money – and just go with a camera – that would be nice As for the front camera – I’d like the 12 MP one we have with the Tab S8 and S8+.

Let me know what you think – but for me, camera systems on tablets are not a very important feature. I use them mainly to scan documents – because for everything else – I always have my phone with me which has better cameras and is also more comfortable to use. So if you were to prioritize where the money will be spent – I’d rather Samsung invest in screen, speakers or battery – than in the camera system. But then again, it’s just me – Let me know what you think.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Mini PRICE & STORAGE

Before you get to the price and storage options – Let’s talk about a very important feature. I absolutely need this tablet to have a microSD card slot. This is a feature we have on high-end Samsung tablets and it allows you to – relatively cheap – increase internal storage by up to 1TB.

You can use this storage for files and photos, but you can also transfer apps from the internal storage and then run them directly from the microSD card. I’ve done it with many games and other apps, and haven’t noticed any significant difference with performance.

So let’s say this tablet was offered with 128 GB and 256 GB – imagine being able to add another 1TB for around $100. Not only would you get a lot more storage, but you could also wait to buy it until you really needed it – which could reduce your initial investment.

And speaking of money, how much should this tablet cost? Well, the 128GB Tab S8 retails for $649 – the 64GB iPad Mini 6 is $499 – and that’s without a microSD card slot and the option to upgrade the internal storage. If you want 256GB on the iPad Mini, the price goes up to $649. So if Samsung could price the 128GB Tab S8 Mini for $599, and then the 256GB for $649 – I think it would be a great value. You’d also get an S Pen, adding to the overall value.

But if given the choice, would you change anything about this design or add any features? Let me know.

You know what I always say, buy it nice or buy it twice! Good luck and see you soon.
