Should you buy the NIU KQi2 Pro or the KQi3 Pro? What are the differences, and what is a better value? I have had an electric scooter for over 3 years and it is a lot of fun to ride. Sometimes I use it as a real means of transportation – to take me where I want to go – and sometimes I just ride it because it always puts a smile on my face – so when Niu asked if I wanted to compare the KQi2 and KQi3 Pro – I thought, – uhhhh yes definitely.

I’ve had both for a few months now and this video will help you choose which one might be better for you because they are definitely aimed at different types of riders – and thanks to NIU for sponsoring this video.
NIU KQI2 PRO VS KQI3 PRO CONSTRUCTION QUALITY
The first thing I noticed upon unboxing both is the build quality – I mean, you’re going to be standing on these, driving them pretty fast, making quick turns, and hitting some potholes – So you want a scooter that can handle the terrain. In this case it is a situation of good and better. The KQi2 is already noticeably more substantial than my previous E Scooter. The deck – or the part where you stop – It is wider, so it provides more space for your feet and gives you better stability. And since the battery is under the deck, you’ll get a lower center of gravity and a more stable ride.
Now take all these things to the next level and you get the KQi3 – hence an even more substantial frame, an even wider deck, and overall everything when you look at them side by side – it is obvious that the KQi3 Pro is the more premium model. The KQi2 actually has slightly larger tires, but the KQi3 has wider ones: – and in both cases I was happy with the shock absorption and grip. I live in Cleveland and our roads are pretty bad – for some strange reason – so this was important to me.
Both handlebars are nice and wide, and that really makes for a comfortable riding experience – especially if you ride for a long time. And it also improves handling and steering when cornering, over potholes or when you have to brake suddenly. And speaking of brakes, both models offer regenerative braking – which I’ll get to in a minute – the KQi2 has an integrated front drum brake, so there is a brake handle. The KQi3 actually has dual disc brakes, so there are 2 brake handles. Both models stop fast and I haven’t had any skidding, but I personally prefer the KQi3 because the front and rear discs give it smoother, more even braking.
Now back to regenerative braking – You’ve probably heard of other electric vehicles, and these scooters can store the kinetic energy that’s created during braking. In both cases you get 3 levels – weak, medium and strong – And this is an important choice because you’re going to feel the difference as soon as you let off the throttle. If you set it to weak – then the scooter will rollslowly to a stop and it will feel very natural – this also means that you are storing less energy in the battery. If you set it to hard, you’ll feel the scooter brake much faster as soon as you release the accelerator and you’ll be building up more power. And of course, the middle is right in the middle – I suggest trying out the 3 different levels and seeing which one best suits your particular style of driving – I have mine set to medium most of the time.
NIU KQI2 PRO VS KQI3 PRO SPEED AND REACH
One of the most important differentiators between the two models is performance – and we want to see both speed and range. The KQi2 has a top speed of 17.4 mph vs. 19.9 mph on the KQi3 Pro – so we’re looking at a difference of about 2.5 MPH or 4 KMH. (or 28km/h or 32km/h)
When it comes to range, we again see the KQi3 Pro come out on top with 31 miles or 50 km versus 24.9 M or 40 km on the KQi2. And this is a function of the power of the engine and the battery. First off, we’re getting a 300W motor in the KQi2 vs. 350W in the KQi3 Pro. In fact, you can feel that difference in the KQi3 Pro’s quicker acceleration and the fact that it’s better for handling steeper hills. . I said this at the beginning, but I have a smile on my face every time I ride these – both are super fun and this added performance is just a bonus.
When it comes to battery life, we’re getting a higher capacity battery in the KQi3 Pro, something I appreciate with every device that requires charging. (486WH vs. 365WH). One thing I was very curious about was the charge time, and we’re looking at around 7 hours on the KQi2 vs. 6 hours on the KQi3 Pro. In both cases, it’s something you’ll want to do overnight or while you’re at work. The good thing is that you don’t need to worry about overcharging either – NIU built in 14 different types of battery protection to keep going.
NIU KQI2 PRO VS KQI3 PRO SECURITY FEATURES
Another aspect that was very important to me is safety. Christie and I ride them, our kids ride them, and a lot of my friends want to try them – and I’m glad NIU thought of this. First off, there’s a really bright Halo light, just below the handle – and this helps illuminate the path or path in front of you and also makes you super visible – as it gets dark outside. There are also bright brake lights, side reflectors – which are great when going through intersections and a mechanical bell – in case you need to let others know you’re getting close. And in general, when it comes to security, it’s another area where I appreciate having a stronger build quality.
NIU KQI2 PRO VS KQI3 PRO DESIGN
When we look at the design of both scooters – we can see that NIU targets different types of passengers with each product. It’s almost like a small, ultra-maneuverable car vs. a luxury car.
The KQi2 has a more minimalist design, it is lighter, more portable, it has interchangeable griptape for the deck, so you can choose the one that best suits your style – and although it is handled easily easily with adult passengers – It feels like it’s designed for a younger audience, students looking for convenient transportation, or just someone who wants to have fun with their trip.
The KQi3 is more substantial; We already talked about the wider platform and the improved braking system. It’s heavier, and because of that, the ride is less bumpy, more comfortable, and more stable, even with the higher top speeds and longer range. So I think it’s a better option for professionals and travelers looking for a more efficient commute to work – And you might want to skip those high gas prices.
NIU KQI2 PRO VS KQI3 PRO PORTABILITY
I talked a little bit about weight, so I want to talk about portability. The KQi2 is slightly lighter at 40.6 lbs vs. 44.75 lbs on the KQi3 (show 18.4 KG for the KQi2 and 20.3 KG for the KQi3. When I first bought these I remember thinking – whoa – these are bigger and heavier than my current scooter, and I was concerned how that would affect portability. So yes, they are a little less comfortable to ride than my previous scooter, but what I gain in comfort, stability, and riding performance easily beats #8211- look what I did there –- that little snag.
Size wise they’re both the same length, the KQi3 is a bit taller when extended but they both fold up at the same height, so they are easy to store and you should be able to fit them in the trunk of a car if needed (length, 46.1 inches (117.09 cm), handlebar height: KQi2 Pro 45.5 inches ( 115.57 cm), KQi3 PRO 48 in ( 122.00 cm), height after folded: 19.8 in (50.4 cm)
DISPLAY & APP ON NIU KQI2 PRO VS KQI3 PRO
When it comes to changing settings and controlling both sc ooters, you have 2 options – the built-in screen and button or you can use the app. Some things, like changing driving modes or turning on the brightest light, I do with the button on the screen, but I love the app because it’s so easy to navigate. There is a settings section where I can name the vehicle; I can see and change all the settings, and I can even lock the scooter – remotely
I can also do firmware updates directly through the – they are automatically detected and very easy to install. Two opportunities for improvement are a slightly brighter screen – to help with direct sunlight, and maybe 2 more buttons for additional functionality outside of the app.
NIU KQI2 PRO VS KQI3 PRO, WHICH SHOULD YOU BUY?
Before I get to my Recommendation, I want to make sure we talk about pricing because most of us are on a budget – and both are super fun to drive. Typically the KQi2 Pro retails for $599 and the KQi3 Pro is $799, but the link in the description is always updated with the latest special offers – so check it out to see what discounts are available now. NIU has more than 2 million users worldwide and is available in 49 countries, and so far I am very satisfied with the performance.
The KQi2 has a design o Clean and minimalist, good comfort and stability, interchangeable grip tape, is available in white or gray, is lighter in weight and is a great choice for someone who wants premium safety and reliability features at a lower cost.
The KQi3 is the most luxurious option – mine is Ultra Black, and it also comes in Rose Gold. It performs better in terms of range and speed, is more comfortable to drive, and has a more advanced braking system – so if you have the extra budget – is an absolutely fantastic option.
Hope this helped youchoose between the NIU KQi2 Pro and the NIU KQi3 Pro.You know what I always say, buy it nice or buy it twice!
Good luck and see you soon.
